Stingy? It's much worse than that.

How nice. The Bush Administration just announced that it will now pledge $350 million to the Asian disaster relief effort. This is an increase from the $35 million that was pledged a few days ago after being shamed by the world for their $15 million original offer. The arrogance the President displayed at his news conference three days into the aftermath was only a hint of this administration's disdain for any challenge to policy or display.

This stingy behavior, in the name of God actually, comes against the background of a $40 million inauguration ceremony that will resemble a coronation, followed by an $80 BILLION price tag for just the next 6 months in Iraq. And HALF the nation is ok with this?

Even with the chincey $$ BushCo has stated will be pledged, it still remains to be seen if any of that money actually ever makes it to help any of the victims.

Yo, Uncle Wheelie! You didn't know we've decided to award the contracts to Brown and Root? No bid, no kidding!

I don't think half the nation is OKAY with this. I think half the nation is no longer paying attention - they've been numbed into submission. Consider: those who profess to adhere to their religious beliefs about Christianity (mostly) somehow don't see that their beliefs are, apparently, only theoretical. Otherwise, they would have to object to the clearly gross violations of their professed religious beliefs. The fact that they are not objecting, tells me they have been anesthetized somehow.
What would be right would be for all of the troops in the middle east to pick up their goodies and move to south asia to assist in the disaster relief efforts. Their help would be greatly appreciated there.
(Instead of killing, the troops would be helping to actually save and improve lives in democratic nations. Interesting concept. Wonder if it could catch on?)

P.S. Brown and Root? That isn't Gus Brown, is it?

Joy here...

Actually, it's a two-fisted sock puppet of notorious global gigadon Hal E. Burton - mercenary, spook, agent provacateur and award-winning novelist of horror genre classics such as "The FrankenDick Identity" and "The Prescott Inheritance."
